Costs of Telling the Gospel of Jesus Christ to People

Good morning. I'm sitting in a friend's dinning room here in sunny San Diego getting ready for church. It's a beautiful day. A wonderful day to go tell the Gospel to someone who needs Christ!

Last night the Lord once again pressed upon my heart that we need to tell the Gospel to more people more often. But I'm going to make this personal and just speak about myself. The Lord last night showed me some important points about soul winning from Mark 8:31-33. The verses read, "31And Jesus began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. 32And Jesus spake that saying openly. And Peter took Him, and began to rebuke Him. 33But when Jesus had turned about and looked on his disciples, He rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men."

God showed me that first like Jesus I need to teach the Word. In order to teach I have to use my mouth and proclaim that which I know, and that is the Gospel which is able to convert the soul. Not only do I need to proclaim the Gospel to people, but it is interesting that in this passage the words "He spake that saying openly." So, I need to proclaim the Gospel not just privately but also in the open public. Meaning, I need to tell the Gospel to the cash tendent at the gas station, to people at their homes, to the clerk at the grocery store, to people I pass by on the street, etc.

The second point which the Lord showed me in this passage concerns with rejection. I must proclaim the Gospel, yet, unfortunately, there will be many people who will reject the Gospel Message. Nice, sincere, and strict viewed persons will sadly reject the Message of Truth.

Another point which encourages me to emphatically still proclaim the Gospel is because I am going to suffer. 2 Timothy 3:12 tell us that we are going to suffer. That's just a fact. So, just do it! Proclaim the Gospel!

In respect to suffering, unfortunately, the truth is that sometimes my own Christian brehtern will bring some suffering in our lives. It is sad but many Christians are erroneously ignorant to the Christ's commandment for us to proclaim the Gospel. Like Peter and Jesus, some brethern will foolish complain or rebuke us for being faithful to the Cause of God.

But we must ignore the rebukes of foolish brehtern and be mindful of the things of God. God came to earth to save mankind from eternal separation from Him. Therefore do as Jesus said in verse 33, "Savourest (Be Mindful) of the things that be of God, but not the things that be of men."
